Art Therapy is a form of psychotherapy that uses art materials to aid and encourage communication. The art making process can provide a means of talking about feelings that are hard to reach and express. Through art making, learners can explore thoughts, feelings and ideas with the therapist.
Learners who are referred to an art therapist do not need to have had previous experience or skill in art. The overall aim of the therapy is to enable a client to effect change and growth on a personal level through the use of art materials in a safe and containing environment.
